Most churches treat repentance like it is foreign to the gospel. The goal of most congregations seems to be church growth, rather than converting men to Christ. Sin is either not mentioned or it is excused. Repentance is treated like a dirty word.

2 Timothy 4:2-3 preach the word; be ready in season  and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,

The problem is far too many Christians have the desire to continue in a sinful lifestyle. And most churches are more than willing to ignore or excuse sin.

1 Corinthians 6:8-11....9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?......

Who are the unrighteous?
1. Fornicators. Do they need to repent? Yes.
2. Idolaters. Do they need to repent? Yes.
3. Adulterers. Do they need to repent? Yes.
4. Effeminate. Do they need to repent? Yes.
5. Homosexuals. Do they need to repent? Yes.
6. Thieves. Do they need to repent? Yes.
7. The covetous. Do they need to repent? Yes.
8. Drunkards. Do they need to repent? Yes.
9. Revilers. Do they need to repent? Yes.
10. Swindlers. Do they need to repent? Yes.

When is the last time you heard a preacher say unless you repent you will not enter into the kingdom of God. When is the last time your preacher named sin by name.

For the record the apostle Paul was preaching to Christians, however, it applies to sinners as well.

If you are not hearing repentance preached, you may be attending a seeker friendly church.

YES, all Christians sin, but all Christians do not make sin a lifestyle.

  1. Not that you're wrong in detail, but another perspective might suggest all of the below merely describe what the essence of the unrighteous in fact DO.

    Who are the unrighteous?

Is it simply those who have done such things or is it truly those that have not entirely "Believed God" (while claiming having applied ALL their heart, mind, soul and strength having heard and believed His voice).

Not to stop there but also "Believe" that Christ spirit IS living on the inside of you (who is not an offense, yet as such we are to come into agreement with).

As believers we MUST understand that when God says, that HE loved us and it's not that we love Him.

Our version of ALL that love is is corrupt as compared. If we DID know (understand Love) that would make us even more guilty? otherwise we would NOT have sinned to begin with having understood what LOVE is.

You asked, who are the unrighteous?

Fornicators. Idolaters, Adulterers, Effeminate, Homosexuals, Thieves, The covetous,
    Drunkards, Revilers, Swindlers,

Those who live according to the Spirit (in agreement) do NOT participate because they are LEAD by the spirit of God and NOT the sinful nature.

They are all descriptive words which point (lead) to one and the same offense or at least as though headed towards the one offense when one starts down such a path. What is the one thing though?

Unbelief? Unbelief in what though? What God says is harmful to our spirit, body and soul as if ONE which communes with Him.

Many love to read how this is more often quoted (Romans 8), yet they’ll stop (like satan) just short of the entire message God wants delivered as if the Whole message (Holy).

There is a reason Gods enemies have to parade around as if an angel of light. If they didn't they would stand out like a sore thumb while trying to deceive. Knowing the entire fact(s) within Gods word served Jesus well when He was tempted. If He didn't know the entire CON-text by which satan approached Him as IF partially quoting through the words of God where He (Jesus) be?

    Rom 8:5-9

Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. -->The mind of sinful man -->is death <--, but the mind --> controlled <--by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God.

-->It (sinful mind) DOES NOT submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those --> controlled <-- by ---> the sinful nature cannot please God.

You, however, are controlled NOT by the sinful nature but ---> by the Spirit, IF the Spirit of God lives in you.

And -->IF<-- anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

What leads into any of the things mentioned in your list? A lie….whether to self or someone else they all start with the conceived “Lie”.

If a "Lie to self" how true is that and how would that square with our claim that the spirit of Christ dwells richly within us when we do such things?

    1. With this I agree. My own nature is more inclined to want that which is bad for me but there is another spirit inside of me which warns me and guides me away from such sinful desires. It's up to me to decide whether I follow my own desires or to follow the other spirit, the spirit of God. I don't always follow God and sure enough things go bad. That's why I need Jesus to help me, he has given me the spirit of God which I didn't have before I believed in him.
