BLASPHEMOUS WORSHIP  by steve finnell

Who should men worship? What is worship? What is false worship?

Who should men worship? Revelation 22:8-9....Worship God.(NASB) Matthew 4:8-10..."Go, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.'"(NASB)

What is worship?  WORSHIP: 3. a prayer, church service, or other rite showing reverence or devotion for deity; religious homage or veneration. [Ref: Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary.]

Prayer is worship. Worshipping anyone or anything other than God is sin.

Like all prayers to Saints, our prayers to Virgin Mary rely on the Saints' special powers to intercede for us before Christ and the Father. But since Mary has a unique role in salvation, and a unique relationship to the Trinity, our prayers to the blessed Virgin also rely on her special power on intercession. Prayer to Saint Gregory, Pope and Confessor: O invincible defender of Holy Church's freedom, Saint Gregory of great renown, by that firmness  thou didst show in maintaining the Church's rights against all her enemies, stretch forth from heaven thy mighty arm.....[Ref: Catholicism.about.com]

Prayers to anyone other than God is sin.

Teaching the doctrine of men IS VAIN WORSHIP. Mark 7:7 'But in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrine the precepts of men.'(NASB)

Does the Scriptures tell us who to pray "to"?

Luke 11:1-2 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one disciple said to Him, Lord teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples." 2 And He said to them, "When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be Your name....(NASB)

Jesus said to pray to God the Father. He did not tell them to pray to the Virgin Mary, Moses, Abraham, Job, nor any other person, dead or alive.

Ephesians 5:20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;(NASB)

The apostle Paul said pray your prayers of thanksgiving to God the Father in Jesus Name. Paul did not say pray to Peter, the Virgin Mary, nor any other person dead nor alive.

John 16:23 In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly truly anything, I say to you if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.(NASB)

Jesus told His disciples to ask God the Father in His name when they prayed.

Jesus never told anyone to pray to the Virgin Mary, Popes, nor to Saints dead or alive.

Teaching men to following the doctrine of men is false worship. Matthew 15:9 'But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrine the precepts of Men!"(NASB)

Praying the Virgin Mary, dead Popes and Saints is sin, and makes your worship to God, vain worship.
