TRANSLATED IN THEIR MINDS ALONE by steve finnell

Those who claim that immersion in water is not essential to be saved say the Bible clearly states that men are saved by grace alone or by faith alone. Saved by grace alone or saved by faith alone has been translated that way in their minds alone.

Grace alone proof-text. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God;(NASB)

There is no translation of the Bible that says "For by grace alone you have been saved."

Those who claim men are saved by grace alone contend that Ephesians 2:8 should be interpreted to mean that God grants faith as a gift, therefore men are saved by faith alone because of grace alone. The problem with that interpretation is that the gift mentioned in Ephesians 2:8 is salvation, not faith.

Faith alone proof-text. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten  Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.(NASB)

There is no translation of the Bible that states "Whoever believes in Him will be saved by "faith alone."

How could anyone honestly interpret John 3:16 to mean men are saved by faith alone; therefore immersion in water, that is baptism, is not essential to be saved?

If men believe Ephesians 2:8 and John 3:16 prove all men are saved by grace alone or faith alone, then why do they not insert the word alone in other Scriptures.

1 Peter 3:21 Corresponding to that baptism now saves us...(NASB) Does that mean men are saved by baptism alone? Of course not.

There in no Bible translation that has the phrase, saved by grace alone or saved by faith alone. Saved by grace alone and saved by faith alone is translated in their minds alone.

It take a skilled deceiver to convince men that Ephesians 2:8 and John 3:16 mean that all men are saved by grace alone or by faith alone.

It takes a skilled deceiver to convince men that immersion in water is not essential to salvation.

Convincing men that water baptism is not necessary for salvation by explaining away Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, John 3:5, Acts 22:16, Romans Chapter 6, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:11-13, Titus 3:4-5 and Ephesians 5:25-27 takes a willing student and a cunning teacher.

Believing what Bible says instead of what you want it say or what you have been taught that it says is the way to the truth.
