TRUST AND OBEY   BY STEVE FINNELL

When it comes to salvation, trust and obedience to the gospel cannot be separated. Trusting God and obeying the gospel are one and the same thing.

Jesus said it. TRUST AND OBEY-"He who has believed...shall be saved..." (Mark 16:16
Jesus said it. TRUST AND OBEY-"...And has been baptized shall be saved..." (Mark 16:16)

TRUST AND OBEY
John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Believing in Jesus is obeying.

John 6:40 For this is the will of the My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.

Believing in Jesus is an act of obedience and it is essential for salvation.

John 11:24-26.....25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"

Jesus asked Martha if she believed. Martha had to believe in order to be saved. Jesus did not compel Martha to believe. Belief is an act of obedience.

Acts 5:32 And  we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."

Obedience is required to receive the Holy Spirit.

The three thousand on the Day of Pentecost were obedient to the gospel. They believed. They repented. They were baptized in water. They received the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:22-38)

Hebrews 5:8-9.....9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,

Yes, being obedient to the gospel is essential to acquire salvation.

1 Peter 1:22-23 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified  your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love for one another from the heart, 23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

They were born again because they were obedient to the gospel terms of pardon. That would be obedience to the truth.

WHAT IS OBEDIENCE TO THE TRUTH?

FAITH: John 3:16
REPENTANCE: Acts 2:38
CONFESSION: Romans 10:9-10
WATER BAPTISM: Acts 2:38

Obedience to the gospel is not a work. There is no law keeping involved. There are no good deeds involved. Obedience to the gospel is not a meritorious act.

BEING OBEDIENT TO THE GOSPEL IS SIMPLY ACCEPTING GOD'S GRACE.
