CONFRONTED WITH THE TRUTH-by steve finnell

What should be the response of believers in Christ be when confronted with the truth?

Apollos was confronted with the truth by Aquila and Priscilla; what was his response?

Acts 18:24-26 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. (NKJV)

Evidently Apollos was an excellent student and graduated of John The Baptist Bible University, he knew the Scriptures, however, they were not teaching the new covenant terms of salvation. They were teaching repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and told to believe in Jesus at a later date.

Aquila and Priscilla taught him the truth. In order to be saved you must have, faith John 3:16, confess Romans 10:9, repent and be baptized Acts 2:38.

How  did Apollos react? Did he say John The Baptist Bible University teaches the way of my denomination and I am not going preach it the way Jesus taught it. There is no indication that Apollos rejected the truth taught by Aquila and Priscilla.
How did the twelve men who were baptized into John's baptism respond to the truth? They were baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.(Acts 19:1-5)
There are many today who are mighty in the Scriptures and have been instructed in the way of the Lord, however, they know only the salvation of the thief on the cross.

The thief plan of salvation: 1. Fear God. Luke 23:40 2. Believe  Jesus is Lord and ask Him to remember you when He comes into His kingdom. Luke 23:42-43

Knowing only the thief terms for pardon cannot save anyone living under the new covenant.

What did Jesus say after He died on the cross and was resurrected? Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved....(NKJV) Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (NKJV)(Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9, 1 Peter 3:21, John 3:16)

Yes, water baptism is essential for salvation.
