IT'S THE SCRIPTURE---NOT MAN-MADE DOCTRINE! BY STEVE FINNELL
If what you believe is not found in Scripture; then it is obviously man-made doctrine.
John 2:22 So when He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.
The disciples remembered Scripture. They did not recall the hearing of man-made doctrine.
John 7:42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
The apostle John quotes Scripture, not a book of catechism written by men.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching , for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
The apostle Paul said all Scripture is inspired; he did not say all creed books and statements of faith are inspired.
2 Peter 1:20-21 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
The apostle Peter said no prophecy of Scripture. He did not mention any man-made prophecy, by contemporary so-called prophets.
Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
The apostle Paul talks of the promise found in Scripture. Paul does not mention any declaration of assurance in creed books, statements of faith, books written about the Bible, nor proclamations by modern-day prophets.
John 17:12 While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
Jesus believed in Scripture. Not in the man-made traditions of the elders.
Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief corner stone; this came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
Jesus did not ask the chief priests and the elders if they had not read in the catechisms; He asked about the Scriptures. Books written by men have no authority.
Acts 17:2 And according to Paul's custom, he went to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with the from the Scriptures,
Paul did not teach, using a Bible commentary. Paul use the Scriptures.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
The apostles Paul taught the gospel according to the Scriptures. Paul did not teach according to creed books, catechisms, Bible commentaries, nor books written by the scribes and Pharisees.
2 Peter 3:15-16 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him wrote, 16 as also in letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
The words and letters of the apostle Paul were, in fact, Scriptures. The extra-Biblical words found in Bible commentaries, creed books, catechisms, statements of faith, and books written about the Bible; are not equal to Scripture nor are the Scriptures.
WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BASE YOUR FAITH ON EXTRA-BIBLICAL INFORMATION?

1. The Mormon "prophet" Joseph, Jr; born on December 23, 1805.
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
2. A Pope that is head of the church of Christ here on earth.
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
3. Praying to the Virgin Mary and other dead saints.
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
4. Being saved by faith "only."
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
5. Being saved by grace "alone."
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
6. The doctrine of a water-less salvation. Stating that water baptism has nothing to do with forgiveness from sin.
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
7. The doctrine of entire sanctification. Being that Christians can reach a sinless state.
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
8. Teaching that God has chosen a select few for salvation and that all others will burn in hell.
NOT MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURE
9. Teaching that men have their sins forgiven the moment they believe.
NOT FOUND IN SCRIPTURE
10. Teaching that once men are saved they can never be lost.
NOT FOUND IN SCRIPTURE

GOD'S WORD IS SCRIPTURE. EVERYTHING ELSE IS PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENT, MAN'S OPINION, MAN-MADE DOCTRINE, AND EXTRA-BIBLICAL EXPRESSION.
