THE BEREAN APPROACH BY STEVE FINNELL

The Bereans wanted to confirm that they were being told the truth concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ. What did they do?

Acts 17:10-11 The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these were more nobleminded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

THE BEREANS TRUSTED THE SCRIPTURES!

What men do to establish what they perceive to be the truth.

They examine the Nicene Creed.
They examine the Abstract Principles.
They examine the Book of Mormon.
They examine the Augsburg Confession of Faith.
They examine the Articles of War for the Salvation Army.
They examine the Book of Discipline.
They examine the Statement of Fundamental Truths.
They examine the Catechisms.
They examine the Westminster Confession of Faith.
They examine Bible commentaries.
They examine statements of faith.
They examine religious books written by men.
They examine their own opinions.
They examine ways that seem right to men.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

The Bereans knew that the Scriptures were inspired by God and that is where they placed their trust.

Any book or writing that is contrary to Scripture would have failed the BEREAN TEST for truth!

THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT TRUTH IS FOUND IN THE BIBLE, AND THE BIBLE ALONE!

GOD ONLY WROTE ONE BOOK!

EXTRA-BIBLICAL WRITINGS ARE A COMBINATION OF TRUTH AND THE OPINIONS OF MEN.
