THE FIRST CASUALTY OF DENOMINATIONALISM AND THE SECOND   by steve finnell

The first casualty of denominationalism is the truth about the inerrant word of God.

1. Some denominations teach the Bible cannot be trusted because it was translated by men. If God has the power to create the heavens and the earth he has the power to direct men to translate His word without error.

2. Some claim that The Bible is a living document, to be added to or deleted by the will of men. Why are men not adding books to the Bible? Why? Because the Scriptures were completed in 100 AD when the apostle John wrote the last book. No book or letter written after 100 AD has been added to the Bible.

The second casualty of denominationalism is the truth about water baptism.

John 12:48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

If denominations can claim the the Bible is in error and can be added to or deleted at will; then they feel they do not have to believe the words of of Jesus or the apostles when they speak about the purpose of water baptism. The words of the apostles were the words of Jesus.

THINGS DENOMINATIONS BELIEVE OR DENY ABOUT BIBLICAL BAPTISM

1. Jesus said in Mark 16:16....and is baptized will be saved.(NKJV) Many denominations say water baptism is not essential to salvation. (The word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day).

2. The apostle Peter said; Acts 2:38...let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins....(NKJV) Many say the Bible was mistranslated; they declare that the word for should have been translated as, because of. They deny the words of the apostle Peter.(The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day).

3. Some denominations say that infants need to be baptized for the forgiveness of original sin or to have the desire to sin washed away. (Neither Jesus nor the apostles taught that doctrine).

4. There are those who teach that being buried through baptism dose not teach water baptism as immersion only. Neither Jesus nor the apostles taught or alluded to sprinkling or pouring as being synonymous with immersion. (Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12)

There is no doubt that Satan wants you dry. The devil does not want you to be immersed in water. Why would Satan not want you to be baptized?

Why Satan wants you dry.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in the newness of life.

Satan wants you dry so that you cannot walk in newness of life.

Colossians 2:12-13 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

Satan wants you dry so that God will not forgive you of all your transgressions.

1 Peter 3:20-21....were brought safely through the water. 21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you---not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but appeal to God for a good conscience---through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Satan wants you dry because he knows water immersion is essential for your salvation.

Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Satan wants you dry to prevent you from being saved.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Satan wants you dry so that you will not receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and your sins will remain unforgiven.

Acts 22:16 Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name'

Satan wants you dry so your sins will not be washed away.

Galatians 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Satan wants you dry so that you will not be clothed with Christ.

Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy , by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

Satan wants you dry because he does not want you to avail yourself of God's mercy.

Ephesians 5:25-27 .....Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

Satan wants you dry so that you will not be cleansed, sanctified, and found to be holy and blameless.

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Satan wants you dry so that you will not have full assurance of faith with your bodies washed with pure water.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Satan wants you dry because he does not want you to enter the kingdom of God.

1 John 5:6-8 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with water only, but the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit  and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

Satan wants you dry because he wants you to disregard the agreement.

Satan wants you dry.

If Satan cannot keep you dry, he will settle for a denial that  baptism is for the forgiveness of sins.

If Satan cannot convince you that baptism is not essential for salvation, then, he will convince you that sprinkling and pouring water are in fact baptism.

If Satan cannot keep you dry he will convince you that faith does not precede baptism and you can baptism unbelieving babies for the forgiveness of their "supposed" sins.

Are you saved by immersion in water "ALONE?" Absolutely not. Without faith, without confessing Jesus as the Son of God, without believing that God raised Jesus from the grave, without confessing Jesus as Lord and Christ, without repentance(repentance is making a commitment to turn from sin and turn toward God). WITHOUT THE PRECEDING THINGS; ALL YOU WOULD GET, WOULD BE WET.

SATAN WANTS YOU DRY!
