SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION? BY STEVE FINNELL

Is God supplying additional revelation to express His commands for mankind? No He is not. God has not been adding to His word since the Bible was completed. All of the Scriptures found in Bible were written by 100 A.D.. All that men need to know in order to receive salvation and live the Christian life is found in the Bible. There is no need of SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION!

Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Jesus told the apostles to teach the disciples to observe all things that He commanded. We have to assume the apostles did just that. The apostles did not have to wait for "supplementary revelation" from the fifth century, the fifteenth century or the twenty first century.

John 16:12-15 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when He, the Spirit of truth , comes, He will guide you into all, the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He speaks; and He will disclose it to you. 15 All things  that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

THE APOSTLES HAD ALL TRUTH BEFORE THEY DIED!

Jesus said the apostles would be taught all the truth. If the apostles were taught all truth, then what are those in the modern church, who claim new revelation from God, teaching?
The so-called modern day apostles and prophets have no new truth.

Galatians 1:11 For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught , but I receive through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

The apostle Paul received his teaching from Jesus Christ.
The apostles were taught by Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
The words and writings of the apostles were Scripture.

If the modern churches do indeed have apostles and prophets of God, and are receiving "supplementary revelation," then why are they not adding these additional Scriptures to the Bible?
The answer is obvious. THERE ARE NO NEW REVELATIONS OF SCRIPTURE FROM GOD. THERE ARE NO "SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATIONS" TO THE BIBLE. GOD HAS SPOKEN ALL THE TRUTH WE NEED, AND IT IS IN THE BIBLE!

CAN MEN PARTICIPATE IN "SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION" WITH IMPUNITY?

Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I commanded you, not take anything from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Israel was warned not to embrace "supplementary revelation."

Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. 6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.

According to Scripture those who add to God's word are liars. What does that say about the churches who claim to have modern day apostles and prophets who are giving new revelations? They are in fact making their particular denomination the authority; therefore rendering the Bible as a secondary source, of a limited, and sometimes obsolete truth.

Revelation 22:18-19 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city which are written in this book.

If the "supplementary revelation"that is proclaimed by these contemporary churches is true; then why do they not add it to the sixty-six books of the Bible?

The fact is, rather than add to the Bible, the so-call new revelations are written down in catechisms and other books supposedly inspired by God.

THE LAST VERSE OF SCRIPTURE WAS COMPLETED BY 100 A.D.-----There IS NO "SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION" TO GOD'S WORD!
