WHAT IS SO DIFFICULT ABOUT UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL? BY STEVE FINNELL

The apostle Peter preached the first gospel sermon on the Day of Pentecost Acts 2:22-41.

THE TERMS OF SALVATION

1. Peter preached Jesus as both Lord and Christ Acts 2:36.
2. Peter told them to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of their sins. Act 2:38

The Gospel is not difficult to understand. Believe and be baptized. Mark 16:16

What makes the gospel difficult?
1.  Some churches teach that only trained professional clergy can understand and teach the truth found in Scripture.
2. Men say the Bible has been mistranslated and is therefore untrustworthy.
3. The doctrine of "Greek only" understanding is prevalent among most denominations. That teaching is that you have to be a Greek scholar with a English to Greek dictionary to understand the Scriptures.
4. There are those who claim that church catechism supercedes the truth found in Scripture.
5. Some teach the church is the final authority of God on earth. God gave the Bible to the church. The church did not give the Bible to God.
How to make the gospel difficult to understand? Destroy the Bible as a trustworthy book of God's truth and then convince men they are not capable of understanding the  Scripture by prayerful study.

Acts 17:10-11....searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

Just read the Bible and believe it. The gospel terms for pardon are not that difficult to understand.
