DENYING SCRIPTURE?  by Steve Finnell

How many times do men have to deny a doctrine of God to make it false? Calvinists believe that once a person is saved they can never be lost. How many verses of Scripture have to be opposed in order to make eternal security a reality? Does denominational teaching cancel the Scriptures?

1. Hebrews 3:7-12.......12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;(NKJV)

Once saved always saved?

2. Galatians 5:4 You have been estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law, you have fallen from grace.(NKJV)

Once saved always saved?

3. Luke 8:13 "But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while  and in time of temptation fall away.(NKJV)

Once saved always saved?

4. 2 Timothy 2:16-18......18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.(NKJV)

Once saved always saved?

5. 2 Peter 3:14-17.....17 You therefore, beloved, since you know these things before hand , beware lest you fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;(NKJV)

Once saved always saved?

6. 1 Timothy 4:1-5 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.......(NKJV)

Did the Holy Spirit believe in once saved always saved?

7. James 5:19-20 Brethren, if anyone among  you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back. 20  let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.(NKJV)

Once saved always saved? I think not.

8. 1 Corinthians 6:8-11 No, you yourselves do wrong and defraud, and you do these things to your brethren! 9 do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, not adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God......(NKJV)

Are unrepentant Christians once saved always saved?

9. James 5:9-12 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing st the door!.....12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment.(NKJV)

Does God joke about the possibility of condemnation and  judgement? Once saved always saved?

10. Matthew 10:16-22 .....22 "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.(NKJV)

Will those Christians who do not endure to the end be "Once saved always saved."

11. Colossians 1:21-23.......22...to present you holy , and blameless, and irreproachable in His sight---23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which was preached to every creature under heaven...(NKJV)

There are conditions to remaining saved. Once saved always saved was never promised by God.

12. Revelation 2:10 "Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.(NKJV)

Christians have the choice to be faithful or not. God does not force men to be faithful. "Once saved always saved is not found in the Scriptures."

13. Ephesians 5:1-7 .....3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as it is fitting for saints........5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of God......(NKJV)

Why would God warn Christians about losing their inheritance  if they were "Once saved always saved."?

14. 2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction......(NKJV)

Apostasy is not defined as "Once saved always saved."

15. 1 Timothy 1:18-20.....19 having faith and a good conscience , which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck....(NKJV)

Is a shipwrecked faith an example of "Once saved always saved?"

16. John 15:1-6.......6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.(NKJV)

Are the once saved always saved thrown into the fire?

17. Hebrews 10:26-29 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.......(NKJV)

Does that sound like "Once saved always saved?"

18. 2 Peter 2:12-14......having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, beguiling unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.(NKJV)

You have to be a Christian to be a child of God. Are accursed children "Once saved always saved?"

19. 1 Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.(NKJV)

Does disqualified mean "Once saved always saved?"

20. 1 Corinthians 8:8-11.....11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?(NKJV)

Does the fact that weak Christians can perish prove that the doctrine of "Once saved always saved" is true?

21. 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if, after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for than the beginning.......(NKJV)

Are backsliding unrepentant Christians "Once saved always saved?"

22. Acts 20:28-30....."For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.....(NKJV)

Why would anyone worry about savage wolves if all Christians are once saved always saved?

23. Hebrews 6:4-6 Fot it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit.....6 if they fall away , to renew them again to repentance....(NKJV)

Why would God warn Christians about falling away if it is impossible to fall from grace? Once saved always saved, I do not think so.

24. Revelation 3:1-5 "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.(NKJV)

Jesus says Christians names can be blotted out from the Book of Life. Calvinists say men are once saved always saved.

25. Matthew 25:1-13 ......11 "Afterward the other virgins came also saying, "Lord , Lord, open to us?" 12 "But he answered  and said, ' Assuredly , I say to you, I do not know you.'....(NKJV)

All ten virgins called Jesus Lord, Lord. Five of the virgins were lost. Once saved always saved was not a reality for five of the virgins.

26. Acts 5: 1-11 .....3 ...Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit...5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last...(NKJV)

Is this great example of "Once saved always saved?"

27. 1 Corinthians 10:1-12.....12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.(NKJV)

Why would God warn against falling if Christians are "Once saved always saved?"

28. 1 Timothy 2:16-18 ....who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past ; and they overthrow the faith of some.(NKJV)

If your faith has been overthrown are you once saved always saved?

29. Hebrew 4:1-11 Therefore, since a promise remains  of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.......11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.(NKJV)

Why would the writer of Hebrews warn that Christians can fall if they were all "Once saved always saved?"

30. 1 Peter 5:1-8.......Be sober be vigilant ; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.(NKJV)

How could the devil devour Christians who are "Once saved always saved?"

31. 2 John 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.(NKJV)

It is possible to not remain in Christ. John forgot to read the words of John Calvin. Once in grace always in grace, not a Biblical concept.

In order to support the doctrine of "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED" you have to believe God was confused when He wrote 31 of  31 Scriptures written here.

DO YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE GOD OR THE DENOMINATIONAL MAN-MADE DOCTRINE OF "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED?"
