KING JAMES ONLY READERS?   BY STEVE FINNELL

There are many who believe that King James translation of the Bible is the only one that can be trusted and that all others are in error. The problem with that assertion is that many of the "King James only" advocates do not believe what the King James Bible says concerning water baptism. Is the King James accurate except in cases where if references water baptism as being essential to salvation?

NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE: Ephesians 5:25-27..Christ loved the church...26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing  of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

What were the results of Jesus washing the church by water with the word?
1. Jesus sanctified the church.
2. Jesus cleansed the church.
3. He presented the church having no spot or wrinkle.
4. Jesus made the church holy and blameless.

Most "King James only" advocates deny the accuracy of these Scriptures.

KING JAMES BIBLE (Cambridge Ed): Ephesians 5:26-27 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Most "King James only" proponents do not believe what this King James version says.

KING JAMES 2000 BIBLE (2003): Ephesians 5:26-27 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Most "King James only" champions do not believe what this King James translation says either.

AMERICAN KING JAMES VERSION: Ephesian 5:26-27 that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle. or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Most "King James only" believers do not accept the truth about water baptism found in this King James Bible.

NEW KING JAMES BIBLE: Ephesians 5:26-27 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Most "King James only" advocates do not agree with this King James version rendering of Ephesians 5:26-27.

THE "KING JAMES ONLY" ADVOCATES BELIEVE THAT ALL TRANSLATIONS ARE IN ERROR, HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT TRUST THE KING JAMES VERSIONS EITHER!

OTHER VERSIONS THEY DO NOT TRUST:

WEYMOUTH NEW TESTAMENT: Ephesians 5:26-27 in order to make her holy, cleansing her with baptismal water by the word 27 that He might present the Church to Himself a glorious bride, without spot or wrinkle or any other defect, but to be holy and unblemished.

YOUNG'S LITERAL TRANSLATION: Ephesians 5:26-27 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it with bathing of water in the saying, that he might present it to himself the assembly in glory, not having spot or wrinkle, or any of such things, but that it may be holy  and unblemished.

GOD'S WORD Translation (1995): Ephesians 5:26-27 He did this to make the church holy by cleansing it, washing it using water along with the spoken words. 27 Then he could present it to himself as a glorious church, without any kind of stain or wrinkle-holy and without faults.

THE LIVING BIBLE (PARAPHRASED): Ephesians 5:26-27 to make her holy and clean , washed by baptism and God's Word 27 so that he could give her to himself as a glorious church without a single spot or wrinkle or any other blemish, being holy and without a single fault.

WHAT VALUE IS THERE IN DECLARING ONLY ONE VERSION OF GOD'S WORD AS BEING WITHOUT ERROR IF YOU DO NOT EVEN TRUST THE DECLARED  VERSION? CLEARLY EPHESIANS 5:25-27 IS TALKING ABOUT WATER BAPTISM!

God's terms for pardon are found in all of these translations, however, none of them have any value unless you believe what is written!

TERMS FOR PARDON:  FAITH (John 3:16)  REPENTANCE (Acts 2:38) CONFESSION (Romans 10:9-10) BAPTISM (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38) and then remain faithful till the end (Matthew 10:22)
