SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE  by steve finnell

The favorite verse of those trying to prevent the truth being presented as absolute truth. (Ephesians 4:11-15.......speaking the truth in love...) They fail to mention Ephesians 4: 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness by which they lie in wait to deceive,(NKJV)

Things those opposed to the absolute truth believe.

1. Absolute truth is arrogant and unloving.

2. God's truth should be presented with alternative views, otherwise it might appear to be unloving.

3. Absolute truth is antithetical to speaking the truth in love.

4. Preaching God's truth as an absolute is the very definition of hubris.

5. God did not write the Bible as absolute truth, that would have been narrow, harsh and unloving.

-----------------------------------------------------

John 8:24 "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."(NKJV)

Was Jesus being arrogant and unloving?

Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.(NKJV)

Was Jesus being an unloving absolutist by saying, believing and being baptized in water saves?

John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.(NKJV)

Was Jesus being unloving by giving absolute requirements to enter the kingdom of God?

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.(NKJV)

Was Jesus being unloving, and bigoted when He said He was the only way to the Father?

Speaking the truth in love does not mean surrendering the truth to prevent others from being offended.
